Steven Davis can fully understand why players want to represent Team GB at the Olympics after Rangers team-mate Steven Naismith declared his interest in being involved.
The Scottish Football Association are against any of their players taking part in next summer's London Games but 25-year-old Naismith revealed he would gladly make himself available.
Northern Ireland international Davis, who is 26, does not believe it is a decision he will have to make himself but can fully appreciate why those likely to be involved would be tempted by the opportunity.
The midfielder said: "To be fair, I don't think it's something I really have to worry about. It's not something I've given too much thought to.
"But I can see the appeal in terms of players wanting to do that because it's a massive stage to go out and try to perform on.
"It's a worldwide competition and a great platform to experience. I wouldn't judge anybody who wanted to play in it."
Meanwhile, Davis admits the loss of Sone Aluko for tomorrow's Clydesdale Bank Premier League game against Hibernian, as well as next week's visit of Inverness, is a blow for Rangers.
The winger has been banned for two games after being found guilty of diving - in what was only his second appearance for the club against Dunfermline last week - by the SFA's fast track tribunal.
Davis said: "It's a blow for us. He has been a big threat for us but it gives somebody else an opportunity to come in now.
"We are just disappointed the tribunal went against us because, as the gaffer said, there was contact there.
"I think he has done really well since he came in. Personally, I've been impressed by him.
"I've played against him when he was at Aberdeen but having seen him in training and up close, he's a really good player and a great addition for us.
"He was unfortunate with the decision going against him."
Davis added: "He has been in the papers every day so maybe it has been a bit of a culture shock for him coming here.
"But he has come in and done really well in terms of the way he has played and I think he will be a good signing for us."
