Kieran Trippier led the tributes to Eddie Howe as the Burnley boss celebrated a year in the Turf Moor hotseat.
Right-back Trippier ensured happy returns for his manager with the second goal in Saturday's impressive 2-0 win at Middlesbrough.
The Clarets made it seven wins in nine outings at the Riverside Stadium to move within a point of the npower Championship play-off places, and Trippier - who recently made his loan move from Manchester City a permanent one - credits Howe for turning the club's fortunes around following a difficult autumn.
"He's a young manager, he understands me and he's done a lot for me one-to-one," the 21-year-old told the Burnley Express. "He's done that for other players as well and that's what's really good about him - his man management.
"When things weren't going too well for us a couple of months ago he was still believing and telling us, 'It'll come'. He knew we'd do well and we just had to believe in ourselves. Over the last 10 games we've done that and we're starting to gel as a team.
"We were a bit nervous and wondering what was wrong. But we looked back on those games, knew what we were doing wrong, and put it right before Christmas. Look where it's put us now."
