Heerenveen kick off the second round of Eredivisie fixtures on Friday night at home to Heracles Almelo still seething the game has not been rearranged.
Heerenveen asked the Dutch FA (KNVB) to put the game back because it is only two days after the World Cup qualifiers, but without success.
Club director Yme Kuiper told Voetbal International: "This is real madness. When the KNVB announced the competition schedule, we immediately campaigned against the date of this match.
"We will miss a lot of players because of international duty and they will return to us no sooner than Thursday.
"This is an awkward situation for us. We have talked to the KNVB and made every effort to get the game moved to Saturday or Sunday. But it was impossible. Unbelievable."
Last season's runners-up Ajax will be looking to open their account on Sunday when they welcome Roda JC. The Amsterdam giants began the season with a shock 2-1 defeat to Willem II a fortnight ago, after which coach Marco van Basten admitted there was "a lot of work to be done".
The hosts will be without Evander Sno, who was controversially sent off in the defeat.
Champions PSV Eindhoven made a clear statement in their opening game, thrashing FC Utrecht 5-1 to go straight to the top of the standings.
Huub Stevens' side face last season's strugglers Sparta Rotterdam on Saturday but will be without goalkeeper Bas Roorda, who has a fractured thumb.
FC Groningen, who also made an impressive start to the campaign with a 4-0 drubbing of Vitesse Arnhem, face FC Utrecht on Sunday, while Vitesse have another tricky trip on the cards when they go to De Graafschap.
FC Utrecht could be without striker Morten Skoubo, who limped out of training on Thursday with a recurrence of a foot injury.
In the weekend's other matches, Feyenoord play top-flight newcomers FC Volendam, ADO Den Haag host AZ Alkmaar and Willem II travel to NAC Breda.
