Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington is casting his net wide in a bid to find a deeper pool of raw, young talent.
While he has a friendly international against Hungary on Wednesday to focus on, Worthington is also taking a big interest in the province's age-group teams.
That's why he will be monitoring the Under-21 side when they face Scotland in a friendly on Tuesday at Hamilton.
That squad has a number of young players who are linked with Barclays Premier League clubs, however there are also some who ply their trade in less known places.
Midfielder Robin Shroot, of Ryman League side Harrow Borough, and James McQuilken, who plies his trade with Tescoma Zlin in the Czech Republic's top flight, are among the names Worthington will be keeping an eye on.
Under-21 manager Steve Beaglehole said: "We have improved the scouting system since Nigel came in and we are now getting a lot of games covered.
"Nigel wants to be kept informed about all the teams, not just the Under-21s but the Under-19s and the Under-17s.
"I know he is keen to find out how we do against Scotland and if there are any players who could make the step up."
Shroot, 20, is beginning to attract the attention of other clubs after scoring four goals in five games, the latest of which was the winner against Margate at the weekend.
Formerly with AFC Wimbledon, he has found his form in recent weeks following a knee operation in the summer.
Beaglehole said: "Robin could be a bit of a late developer. That still happens in the game.
"From the little I have seen of him so far in training, he looks as though he is someone who could go past players. So he might get a chance tomorrow."
Beaglehole, who is on the Leicester coaching staff, was tipped off about McQuilken by the club's joint assistant manager Craig Shakespeare.
McQuilken, 19, had a spell at West Brom when Shakespeare was on the backroom staff, before deciding to try his luck abroad.
Beaglehole said: "I got a good report on James from Craig. It was brave decision to the boy to go out to the Czech Republic.
"He is doing quite well, by all accounts, and like Robin he could get a run-out against the Scots."
