Wigan manager Steve Bruce believes this could be a crucial week in the club's season.
A year into his tenure at the JJB Stadium, Bruce has not been able to secure back-to-back victories in the Barclays Premier League.
But he feels they have every chance of changing that situation in next few days when they face Everton on Monday night and West Brom on Saturday.
Wigan have taken only five points from a possible 18 at home but Bruce said: "We hope this is our time. If we can put a couple of results together that will push us up the table.
"It is very difficult, though, for any team in the bottom half of the table to win back to back.
"I have not been able to do that here. Our record towards the back end of last season was terrific. But we still could not do that."
Reflecting on their home form Bruce said: "That has been the disappointing thing for us as you always want to perform in front of your own fans. Our best displays have been away from home.
"I think teams approach us differently now. They get men behind the ball and make it difficult for us. In the past they maybe thought there was an opportunity to get three points.
"We need to improve at home - that's how we stayed in the division last year. If we can turn that around we can look forward to a decent season."
Bruce is working towards what he describes as "level par" in his bid to keep the club in the top flight.
"If you can take 38 points from 38 games it is usually enough - however you might need 40 this season given how crowded things are," he said.
"We are bang on target for 38 at the moment although we could have been a few points better off.
"Hopefully we can get a few more in the next couple of games although Everton are always tough opposition.
"They have good players and we know (manager) David Moyes will have them fired up."
Bruce will monitor the fitness of four key players ahead of the match. Emile Heskey (hamstring), Amr Zaki (rib and calf), Mario Melchiot (knee) and Jason Koumas (groin) are all doubtful through injury.
Emmerson Boyce is sidelined through suspension after being sent off in the draw against Newcastle last weekend.
