TEVEZ COULD STILL BE OFF
And so, the morning after, when we all suffer the mixed emotions of being incredibly glad it's all over but wondering quite what we're going to do with our lives now.
Still, it might not quite be all over yet, because it's only the European transfer window that is shut.
And you know what that means - Carlos Tevez.
Details are here, but the long and the short of it is that Tevez could either move to somewhere in Russia (most likely Anzhi Makhachkala), or somewhere back in South America. Of course, you don't need us to tell you that the former are more likely to pay the money, while Tevez will be more willing to move to the latter.
Interestingly, both Catalan paper Sport and our very own Times report that Barcelona turned down a late offer to take the rather troublesome Tevez off City's hands.
And quite right too.
ARSHAVIN ON HIS WAY TOO
Another man who could take advantage of windows still being open in various places is Andrey Arshavin.
The Daily Express reports that Anzhi Makhachkala are still in for the wee Russian, who could not look more uncomfortable in London if he tried at the moment.
However, the paper claims: 'The Arsenal midfielder could put an end to his own misery at the club but our sources have said he would be unlikely to make the move soon.
'Arsene Wenger could face a hard decision whether to offload the 30-year-old who has 18 months left on his contract. The Russian transfer window does not shut until the end of next month so it will give Wenger the added time to decide on any possible move.'
We see.
BARCA MAKE MOVE FOR RVP...IN THE SUMMER
Well, this would just be selfish.
There's a difference between purchasing players and just being bullies, nicking the favourite toys of the smaller kid, and if Barcelona do this in the summer than they have gone over that particular line.
The Daily Mirror reports that Barca could make a move for Robin van Persie in the summer, 'according to reports in Spain'.
No official move has been made yet, apparently, but Barca will hope for a reduced-price deal, what with RvP's contract being up in 18 months.
NELSEN IN?
Spot of uncertainty about Spurs this morning.
Harry Redknapp stumbled on to TV after their win over Wigan to projectile vomit transfer information right over us, and one of the bits of carrot in his expulsion was the rather surprising news that he wanted to bring in Ryan Nelsen.
Yes. That Ryan Nelsen. The one at Blackburn who has played just once (on August 20) this season and has a career-threatening knee injury.
Harry said he wanted to send Seb Bassong out on loan, but only if he got Nelsen in as a replacement. However, Bassong has gone to Wolves, but there's no word yet on Nelsen.
The Daily Mail reckons Redknapp is 'hopeful' of signing Nelsen, who apparently had his contract cancelled by Blackburn in the closing stages of January, of course leaving him free to sign with who he likes.
